1. Policy Statement

Journey to Healthcare CIC is committed to creating an open, transparent and safeguarding-focused culture in which all concerns about the conduct of adults and individuals in positions of trust are identified, shared, recorded and addressed appropriately.

Journey to Healthcare recognises that behaviour which does not initially meet the threshold for a formal safeguarding allegation may nevertheless:

• be inconsistent with the organisation’s values;
• breach the Code of Conduct;
• indicate a failure to maintain professional boundaries;
• cause discomfort, distress or uncertainty;
• undermine confidence in the organisation;
• expose a participant to avoidable risk;
• form part of a wider pattern of concerning behaviour;
• escalate if it is not addressed;
• indicate a training, supervision or governance need;
• contribute to an environment in which more serious misconduct could occur.

The term low-level concern does not mean that the concern is trivial or unimportant. All concerns will be taken seriously and considered in context.

Journey to Healthcare will encourage people to report concerns even where they are uncertain whether the behaviour is significant. No person is expected to determine the safeguarding threshold before making a report.
