Primary Care Work Experience: Health Promotion


Journey to Healthcare CIC has partnered with a GP surgery in Bromley, South London, to offer volunteers the opportunity to take part in health promotion work experience days within a primary care setting.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in healthcare, medicine, nursing, public health, or patient education to gain practical experience and develop their communication skills.

🩺 How will it work?

Before participating in the volunteering days, you will:

✅ Complete the required training
✅ Undertake an assessment
✅ Receive sign-off to participate in the volunteering sessions
✅ Complete the required paperwork and checks

📋 What documents will you need?

You will be asked to provide:

  • Proof of ID

  • Proof of address

  • A valid DBS certificate

Please note: Journey to Healthcare CIC will not provide a DBS. Volunteers are responsible for obtaining and providing their own DBS certificate.

📅 Health Promotion Days

The dates are yet to be confirmed, but planned themes include:

🩸 Prediabetes Education
Learn about prediabetes, risk factors, lifestyle changes and prevention.

❤️ High Blood Pressure: Know Your Numbers
Support health promotion around blood pressure awareness and understanding your numbers.

🎀 Breast Cancer: Self-Examination
Promote awareness and education around breast awareness and self-checking.
